Casinos and The Negative Impact They Have On Our Society The existence of casinos does produce wealth for a few, but they are detrimental to society for their connection to crime, substance abuse, the highly addictive qualities they contain, and their powerful ability to ruin the lives of many by causing poverty. There are several reasons in which in casinos should be illegal, ranging from its negative impact on the lives of individuals to the overall damaging effects on society. Gambling has been linked to many cases of addiction, poverty, crime, depression, and the destruction of relationships.
